I made a tiny little game in Twine to test it out.
I think it will be very entertaining and useful software! As long as you have the right browser, for sure. I first tried it on Microsoft Edge (I know what you’re thinking, but it’s what we use at work), and it wouldn’t let me play or test it. Once I switched to Firefox and Chrome, it worked fine.
I love how simple it is to use. I hope to play with some of the code and create more complex formatting. Ideally, I would love to add sound (maybe even video, but that’s really getting ahead of myself for the workload I’m juggling this semester). I want to create as much of an immersive atmosphere as possible.
I glanced through a Twine tutorial and the cookbook and gained some valuable insight into the mechanics of the game. I think I can tinker with it and make a cool finished product, even if I forego the extra bells and whistles that come to mind.
Currently, for my project, I’m looking at 3 paths with at least 5 different endings, but the number may grow as I add more detail. This is already getting complicated. I do appreciate a fun creative challenge though.
